I can’t help but analyze things like this when they show up because after the knights say that they would follow Arthur into hell, Arthur’s face is kind of tense and he looks kind of haunted, but appreciative and a bit like he kind of expects that sort of answer from them.  But he turns to Merlin, and when Merlin says the same, he relaxes and smiles a bit.  Merlin’s loyalty mean more to him at this point than the love of his people and his knights.  Which is why I will never stop shipping Merthur, even if it is just a bromance ship.  Because these two fucking live and breathe for each other.

Arthur smirks and gives Merlin some eye-foreplay, but then runs off, leaving Merlin with an eye-boner and no eye-sex.
